About

I'm Randy Higashi, and I've been involved in international exchange and education for the past seven years. After graduating from the University of California Santa Barbara's Global and International Studies Program, I started working in youth international education on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program.

I currently serve as the Coordinator for International Relations in Takko-Machi, Japan, acting as the main communications liaison between the town and its sister city (my hometown) of Gilroy, California. I also frequently juggle roles as international exchange programs and events coordinator, cultural and language support advisor, translator and interpreter, town photographer and social media manager (among other odds and ends when needed or asked)...but more often than anything am seen getting filthy on my cyclocross bike or running in remote "did you really not take a car to get out here?" locations.
